Morgan 4/4 - for £26,995

Description
1948 Morgan 4/4 Series I in red with black wings, black leather upholstery, black hood and side screens. Morgan made its name with its fearsome brand of three-wheelers and the 4-4 (later 4/4) was its first four-wheeled creation (4-4 signifying four wheels and four cylinders). Launched in 1936, it was initially powered by an 1122cc OISE four-cylinder Coventry Climax engine, superseded from 1939 by a Standard Special 1,267 cc overhead valve engine with 38.8 bhp (29 kW; 39 PS). A four-speed Meadows gearbox was used until 1938, then a Moss gearbox. It proved deservedly popular and, by 1939, 663 Two-Seater examples had been produced. Like its earlier brethren, the 4-4 was quick to prove its worth in competition contesting such blue riband events as the Tourist Trophy (1937) and Le Mans 24 hours (1938, 1939). Indeed, Prudence Fawcett and her co-driver Geoffrey White won their class and finished 13th overall during the 1938 running of the latter event. This stunning Morgan had been with its previous owner since 1966. Despatched to Cyprus on 29th June 1948 it was repatriated in the 1950s. Subject to an extensive restoration in 1998 by Four Elms Morgan which included a new chassis, Ash frame and new wiring loom this Morgan has also benefited from a previous engine overhaul with the dashboard French polished by sculpture Rowland Emett. This car comes with a lovely history folder containing the buff logbook, collection of invoices and old MOTs, letters, photos and a workshop manual. Upon test drive this Morgan drove fantastically and I had a wonderful time taking this out on a test drive, firing straight up with a strong engine and smooth gearbox this Morgan is ready to be enjoyed. She has full weather equipment as seen on the photos although it was a tad too warm today for me to fit it out in the sun. This fantastic Morgan is ready to be enjoyed, form part of a private collection or take to car shows. Great fun and a real head turner! Absolutely any inspection is welcome. Viewing is highly recommended, and we know you will not be disappointed. All major debit cards accepted. Please contact us for any further information. UK mainland delivery included.
