Replacing the popular R129 series of cars the R230 model was the fifth generation of SL roadsters produced from 2002 until 2011. A number of different engines were offered with power outputs ranging from 245 BHP right up to 612 BHP. The SL55 AMG, when introduced in 2002, was the most powerful road car built by Mercedes. Performance was blistering from its 476BHP Supercharged V8 engine, 0 – 62mph was 4.7 seconds and top speed was limited to 155mph, however a German car magazine reportedly removed the limiter and over 200mph was recorded. Our car, a 2003 SL55 AMG has covered just 67,000 miles from new and has had 6 previous keepers, we have sold it twice previously so know the car well.
