All-round abilities; beats rivals on price Lexus' goal to take on BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz, in terms of executive style and capability, are apparent in the LS400, which was rapidly accepted by luxury car buyers worldwide as a well-specced and competent rival to 7-Series and S-Class. It cost a lot less than its premium rivals new, but used values have closed in recent years. LS400 equals its rivals for comfort, spaciousness, power, refinement, equipment and reliability. The VSC, traction control and anti-lock braking system are collectively designed to increase driving safety, through quick responsiveness and greater stability. More recent models come with improved safety, with force limiters on front seat belts and the fitting of a headrest to the central rear seat. The anti-theft measures in the Lexus seem to be fairly resilient and arduous, and although a tracker might be advisable, LS400 are rarely targeted.
