Jaguar XK 5.0 V8 Portfolio 2dr Auto for £18,995

Description
Jaguar seems to be gradually adapting to life in the 21st century and the new XK is the strongest evidence yet that it can make a modern car that drives as well as it looks. Like the XJ saloon in 2003, the new XK coupe benefits from lightweight aluminium construction making it feel more of a sportscar on the road rather than the heavy grand tourer the original XK8 was. Class-leading safety, generous equipment levels and a thundering V8 engine all add up to making the XK an incredibly desirable and genuinely appealing sports coupe. In March 2009 the model was facelifted with new bumpers, LED rear lights and a new 5.0-litre V8 engine replacing the previous 4.2-litre.There's no Euro NCAP crash rating for the XK but side airbags for the driver and front passenger are combined head and chest airbags which deploy from the seats to ensure they are in the optimum position. The front of the car is designed to cause less damage when hitting a pedestrian, and the bonnet pops up to minimise serious head injuries. Thanks to the raked tailgate, the XK has a decent enough boot, although it's quite shallow so you'll struggle with larger or boxy items. A set of golf clubs will just about fit though – although it may take a few goes to squeeze them in. And while it may have four seats, the Jaguar is really designed for two people – the rear space is tiny and only good as an extra storage area. The XK interior is thoroughly modern with a minimalist feel to the design. A touchscreen sat nav unit dominates the centre console, leaving it uncluttered by buttons, while the steering wheel features simple to use switches for the cruise control and stereo. The materials used are suitably upmarket and it feels every inch the sophisticated coupe it looks from the outside. The driving position is excellent too and there's plenty of adjustment in the seat and steering column to allow you to get comfortable. Revised models from 2009 come with the circular gear selector that rises from the central
