Triumph TR5 for £69,995

Description
1968 Triumph TR5. clat Red with Black leather upholstery piped in white and a black mohair hood. This TR5 BXC 111G was first registered in August 1968 and has had just two owners from new, the previous owner acquiring it through his tailoring business in 1970 and then transferring it into his own name when his company was dissolved in 1993. A leading light in the TR Register, he used the TR5 regularly during his long ownership and the car is well known amongst club members. Unusually, it has been kept completely standard throughout its life and always been looked after by the respected Blakedown Sports Cars near Kidderminster with a good file of invoices charting routine maintenance over the years. Other documentation includes the original purchase invoice from 1970, various photos and press cuttings, a condition report from 1980, some interesting correspondence with Lucas in the late 1980s relating to the fuel-injection system, numerous old tax discs back to 1971 and an original owners handbook. Sadly, its original owner passed away in 2019 and the car was purchased by Anthony Hamilton, father of Lewis the Formula One World Champion, an enthusiastic collector of British sports cars. Anthony is known for the sheer quality of his Collection and, although the TR was in sound condition and essentially original, the decision was taken to completely strip the car to every last nut and bolt and then rebuild it to a Concours dElegance standard. Built from the ground up, absolutely no expense was spared in returning the Triumph to the gleaming condition you see today. New/old stock panels were sourced and every part of the car was either rebuilt, reconditioned or replaced. The choice of colour was important and, rather than paint this special car a standard factory colour, a batch of Aston Martin clat Red was specially mixed. This fabulous colour was used by Aston on 10 Vanquish S models created as a Red Arrows Limited Edition (clat is the Red Arrows motto) and we feel it really suits Michelottis clean and crisp design. It has only covered five miles since the completion of the restoration and is running and driving as you would hope being, effectively, a brand new 1968 TR5. A real head-turner in a unique colour that will grace any showground and would be welcome anywhere, Although now tax and MOT exempt, a fresh MOT will be applied upon sale for the new owners peace of mind. Absolutely any inspection welcomed. All major debit and credit cards accepted. Part exchange considered. Free UK-mainland delivery. Please contact us for any further information.
