Volkswagen GOLF MK1 CABRIOLET GTI for £12,995

Description
Hello and welcome to the sale of this stunning Golf GTI. Unbelievably this car is 40 years old next year and therefore due to become eligible for tax and MOT exemption very soon! It has clearly been cherished over the decades, and comes with a stack of old invoices, receipts and photos documenting any work that has been required to keep it looking fresh. The car was treated to a full respray in the original Mars red approx 10-12 years ago, with minimal bodywork having to be carried out, and has weathered extremely well since. It retains a beautiful shine and deep colour, with no heavy damage and only a minor blemish here or there as one would expect. Underneath is also extremely clean with no corrosion issues to be concerned about whatsoever. The original alloy wheels are in excellent condition and shod with recent tyres. All the window seals, chrome strips, exterior trims and bumpers remain in great order with nothing out of place. The beige manually operated soft top is simple and easy to use and is free from rips or tears, and has a glass rear window. Overall the whole car presents extremely well indeed. The beige and brown interior is also in fantastic condition and oozes retro cool. The dashboard is free from cracks, as are the other interior trims. Nothing appears to be broken or out of place, and is presented in a clean and tidy condition with no bad odours or stains. The seats are very nice indeed front and rear with no major wear. Other nice original touches include the original glass security etching and matching lock set with two keys. The 1.8 injection engine starts well with a turn of the key, and burbles away with that distinctive GTI sound. It sounds sweet as a nut with no rattles or knocks, and gives smooth power delivery on the road, and gives a satisfying turn of speed even by modern standards. The 5 speed gearbox is smooth and quiet with no syncro crunch as often associated with this era VW, and gives a very slick and satisfying gear change through that iconic golf ball knob. The brakes are positive and it pulls up square under braking. The suspension has been poly bushed which gives it a fantastic tight feel, with very little body shake whilst retaining great ride quality, which almost defies it being a soft top. It really is the best mk1 cabrio I have driven. To sum up this is a rare opportunity to invest in an extremely cool, desirable and immediately usable classic car, in fabulous condition throughout. It is surely one of the very best on the market today, with the added benefit of being an early model and being eligible for that tax and mot exemption next year, with a welcome reduction in annual costs. It has gained much admiration during its time here with us and I am sure it will continue to do so for the next lucky owner. Part exchange considered for any modern, classic, commercial or American vehicle, and nationwide delivery available.
