 Practicality 4/5
Toyota Prius
Toyota Prius
The Prius is more expensive than most of the other vehicles in its class. After the initial asking price the Prius is actually very cost effective. With combined consumption of 65.7mpg fuel costs will be low. The promise of a GBP1,000 Government-sponsored 'PowerShift' grant will also help with costs. The car also comes with a three-year/60,000 mile warranty as standard.

Toyota Prius cabin space is adequate in the Prius, and passengers should be comfortable. Boot space is excellent and can hold a good deal. The 400 litres provided is more than enough to accommodate several suitcases or a good deal of shopping.

The Toyota Prius main controls and dials are solid and connected. Steering wheel-mounted controls are included for the driver’s convenience, but due to the sheer number of them they can be difficult to use. The car comes with an electronic speedometer, but many buyers may miss the traditional one.

The Toyota Prius delivers decent levels of passenger comfort. The car's shares the same suspension configuration as the Corolla. Road and engine noise is kept to a minimal, and the car’s seats are supportive and comfortable.

Access to the Toyota Prius cabin is straightforward. The raised seating position and wide door apertures mean that most passengers will have no problem gaining access to the car’s cabin. Once inside passenger room is good and makes egressing the cabin just as easy.

Parking the Prius shouldn’t be a problem, the car comes equipped with parking sensors and drive-by-wire as standard. Visibility is good, and the car’s large wing mirrors help make parking safe and easy.

 Life Style 4/5
Toyota Prius
Toyota Prius
The Prius is not a very interesting car to drive, but it is a very economical car to drive and will make a lot of sense to practical buyers. While the steering is light and responsive, the lack of any unique engine poerformance leaves the driver to a neutral experience.

The Prius would make an excellent family vehicle. It provides good head and legroom and can comfortably accommodate a family. Boot space is more than adequate, and eight airbags are included as standard along with ISOFIX child seat mountings. Interior fabrics would also stand up well to the rigors of family life.

This is probably not the best choice for first cars. The car’s expensive asking price will be a huge factor, but the car’s lack of street cred will also factor in. Insurance rates will be fairly high for this car for young buyers.

Toyota has a good reputation for reliability, durability, and good build quality. Toyota is offering an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on all of the hybrid components. This will encourage hesitant buyers to take the plunge. The interior feels durable and should age well.
