 Practicality 3.5/5
SAAB 9-5
SAAB 9-5
The 9-5 offers good value for money. Buyers get a well-equipped and practical car. Opting for the diesel engine means good fuel economy, the Aero version delivers high levels of performance for a relatively low asking price. Servicing costs and insurance should be reasonable. Resale values should also be high.

The 9-5 estate is an excellent car. The load space is a good size for its class, and the cabin provides adequate space. Front seat occupants fare much better than those in the rear where legroom is more limited.

The SAAB 9-5 main dials are clear and easy to read. The main switchgear consists of a few main dials. The touch screen sat-nav system adds an element of coinvenience and control. There's even a button to turn off everything that’s not in use to darken the dashboard at night.

The SAAB 9-5 seats are supportive and remain comfortable even on longer journeys. Engine and road noise are kept to a minimal raising the level of cabin comfort. Head, leg and elbow room upfront is good, while rear passengers enjoy an adequate amount of room as well.

Access to the cabin’s front seats is good. Passengers shouldn’t have any trouble accessing or egressing the car’s cabin. The doors open wide and the door aperture is large. Rear passengers have smaller doors and apertures but still should be adequate. Accessing the car’s boot is easy as well. The estate variant's tailgate opens to reveal a low, wide load lip.

The 9-5 is a big car but still isn’t too difficult to park. The car provides good visibility and the car’s boot is easy to judge. Steering is light and easy to maneuver. The car’s large side mirrors help out a lot, and models with parking sensors make the task much easier.

 Life Style 4/5
SAAB 9-5
SAAB 9-5
The 9-5 can deliver a good driving experience when driven enthusiastically. The car’s front-wheel drive system can be cumbersome in the rain but is usually a lot of fun. The 9-5 delivers an excellent ride.

The 9-5 would make a good family car. There is enough cabin space to comfortably accommodate a family. The car’s boot is also large enough to accommodate large or oddly shaped items. The car’s leather seats may not fair so well with children though.

The 9-5 is not the best choice of cars for first time buyers. The car is likely to be too large and too coostly to buy and maintain. Insurance costs are likely to be high as well.

The Saab brand attracts buyers who are looking for an upmarket alternative to rival German brands. Saab is a less expensive brand but boasts excellent build quality and good levels of comfort.
