Hyundai consists of a group of South Korean companies founded in 1947 by Chung Ju-yung and was originally founded as a construction company. In 2003 the company divided into five separate groups including the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group, the Hyundai Department Store Group, and the Hyundai Development Group.

The Hyundai Group manufactures a variety of products including logistics, insurance, elevators, construction, a professional baseball team, and a professional football league in Australia. This is a small example of the diverse range of activity that Hyundai covers.

Hyundai cars have become more popular in recent years. Some popular models include the Hyundai Tucson, Accent, Terracan, Trajet, Amica, Coupe, Elantra, Getz, Matrix, Sonata, and the Santa Fe.

The Hyundai Tucson is a compact cross-over SUV. The car comes as a five-door wagon with a choice of either a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine or a 2.7-litre V6. The car was first produced in 2005 and production continues to date.

The Hyundai Accent is a subcompact car that was designed to replace the Hyundai Excel. The first generation Accent was produced from 1995 to 1999. It was available as four-door sedan or a two-door hatchback. The Accent was redesigned in 2000, and the second generation Accent was produced from 2000 to 2006 and came in three forms; four-door sedan, two-door hatchback, or as a four-door hatchback. The third generation Accent was produced from 2006 to the present. The current Accent comes as a four-door sedan or a three-door hatchback.

The Hyundai Terracan is an SUV. The Terracan replaced the Hyundai Galloper and was first produced in 2002 and production continues to date. The Terracan comes with a 2.9-litre engine and is related to the Kia Sorento.

The Hyundai Trajet is a seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle. The original Trajet was introduced in 1999 and the 2.0 GSI model along with the limited edition SE 2.7 V6 were introduced in 2001. The Trajet offers three rows of seats and various seating arrangements making the Trajet a very versatile and practical vehicle.

The Hyundai Coupe is a sport compact coupe. The Coupe replaced the Hyundai Scoupe. The Coupe has been produced in three generations. The first generation was produced from 1996 to 1998, and the second generation was produced from 1999 to 2001. The car was further enhanced and the third generation was produced from 2003 to the present.

The Hyundai Matrix is a mini MPV that provides seating for five. The five-door MPV has been produced from 2001 to the present.


The Hyundai Elantra is a compact car that was first launched in 1991. The Elantra replaced the Hyundai Excel GLS. The Elantra has been produced in four generations. The first generation was produced from 1991-1995 and was available as a four-door sedan. The second generation was produced from 1996 to 2000 and was available as either a four-door sedan or a four-door station wagon. The third generation Elantra was produced from 2001 to 2006 and was available as a four-door sedan or a four-door hatchback. The fourth and current generation Elantra began production in 2007 to the present. The latest generation of Elantra is available as a four-door sedan and comes with a choice of engines including a diesel option.

The Hyundai Getz is a supermini available in three or five-door hatchback form. In 2006 the Getz received a 4-cylinder 1.5-litre diesel option. The interior and exterior also received other enhancements helping to keep the Getz modern. The Getz has been produced from 2002 to the present.

The Hyundai Sonata is a mid-size vehicle that was designed to replace the Hyundai Stellar. The car is currently in its fourth generation. The fourth generation Sonata has been produced from 2005 to the present and comes with a choice of three engines.

The Hyundai Santa Fe is a mid-size cross-over SUV. It has been produced for two generations; the first generation was produced from 2001 to 2006. The second generation Santa Fe was produced from 2007 to the present.
