The Volkswagen Phaeton delivers excellent driver appeal. The car’s V10 and W12 engines provide an extremely fast ride. The Phaeton is a heavy vehicle, but the V10 diesel has a gross weight of nearly 3,000kg and can reach 62mph in less than seven seconds. The other engines may not deliver such dynamic performance but they do provide better fuel economy.

This is not a family vehicle. The car’s premium interior would not fair well at the hands of children. There are much more suitable family cars available.

The five-door Volkswagen Golf version would make the most suitable choice as a family vehicle. The model range also boasts a split-fold rear seat, sufficient cabin space for most passengers and a decent size boot. The down-side is the lack of storage space to accommodate family related items.

This is not the best first car on the market. For those who could afford the initial purchase price, insurance rates will be high, and the car may have too much power on offer for novice drivers.

The VW Golf is viewed with high regards and used to be a major contender in the hot hatch sector. Volkswagen has high hopes that the car’s GTI status will help to propel the car back to the iconic status that it once enjoyed.

Most drivers will find that the Volkswagen Touran is likeable enough. The car may feel a little lacking due to the fact that the car’s throttle and steering inputs are electronically regulated, but it is always precise. Diesel engines feel more powerful than they are thanks to the amount of torque offered. The Touran also doesn’t lean through corners like most of the other cars in this class.

The car is versatile and can also carry a good deal of cargo. The van is durable enough to handle family life, yet classy enough that it can be taken anywhere.

This is not a good first car. It is expensive, and large. Novice drivers may have a difficult time navigating the Touran and are not likely to need so much space.

The Volkswagen company is known for producing quality and reliable cars. Owners will not need to worry about owning a badge that’s stylish enough. Volkwagen’s badge carries plenty of clout, but the Touran as practical as it is will not be much of a head turner.
