Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about us and what we do.
However, if you have a question that is not covered here then please email us at support@buyyourcar.co.uk.
1 Who Are BuyYourCar.co.uk?
BuyYourCar is a web based car buying and selling service that caters for everyone wishing to buy or sell a car.
We are the first and only car retail portal in the UK to offer new, used, contract hire and lease cars as well as dealer deals – such as late used, demonstration and pre-registered vehicles - all for sale on one website, and at discounted prices you won’t find anywhere else. It also allows buyers to sell their cars at unbelievable prices.
The site has been created so car buyers and sellers can make contact quickly and easily and see exactly what they’re getting from the outset, as well as ordering their next car online.
Since our launch in 2003 we have begun to establish ourselves within the motor industry by offering outstanding services and prices. We have revitalised the method of buying and selling cars on its head by creating the UK’s first online motoring portal that allows both car dealerships and private customers complete flexibility, security, and privacy in advertising, purchasing and selling their car.
We have invited dealers from around the UK to sell their cars direct to you at the best possible prices. Our prices are entered directly by UK dealerships.
Please note: BuyYourCar does not sell the vehicle to the customer and does not buy the vehicle from the supplier; we are an intermediary third party.
2 Do the cars come with a warranty?
All new cars come with a full manufacturer's warranty unless specifically stated. For all nearly new and used cars bought from a UK dealership or motor trader, you will be informed if your car will come with the relevant manufacturer’s warranty.
3 Is there an administration fee?
Our Administration Fee is shown separately to the vehicle prices on New Cars and Dealer Deals and is clearly displayed within our site at the time of vehicle ordering. This Administration Fee acts as your booking fee on new cars and allows us to put you directly in touch with the UK Supplying dealership to purchase your car.
The Administration Fee will be automatically debited from your credit or debit card once you complete our secure online order form. At the current time our Search Fee is just £49.00 inclusive of VAT.
This Search Fee is only payable to us on cars purchased through our New Cars & Dealer Deals sections. BuyYourCar charges a fee to ensure that the enquiries passed on to our dealers are of the highest quality. This ensures the dealers' willingness to supply cars at large discounts, as their time is not being wasted.
We offer a 100% refund policy should you be unable to complete the purchase of your new car once you have submitted the Online Purchase Order.
Remember with BuyYourCar; no car - no fee - 100% FREE.
4 How often is the model range updated?
We continue to source new cars in order to offer you as comprehensive a range as possible and our site is updated on an on-going basis as new models and deals become available. If stock has been sold, either us or our suppliers will remove these cars from our site as soon as we are informed of the stock changes. All prices and vehicle descriptions on the site are supplied directly by our network of UK suppliers.
5 Who is my contract to buy the car with?
The Supplier; BuyYourCar only acts as your agent and matches your car requirements to a supplier in our network. The supplier may ask you to enter into an additional signed purchase agreement (in addition to our Purchase Order) to validate the order and the contract.
6 Can I pay the deposit by credit card or cheque?
You can pay your supplier the required deposit by any of the following methods that suits you: bank transfer, bankers draft, Visa, MasterCard or Switch. The level of deposit will be specified by each of our supplying dealerships and stated in their advertisements. Some final balance credit card payments may attract additional surcharges. Please check with your dealership when purchasing.
7 Can you arrange insurance?
Regretfully we cannot arrange insurance. It is best to arrange this yourself.
8 Will the car be registered in my name first?
Yes, if you have bought a "new" car you will be the first registered owner of the car. If this is not the case on any of the used or dealer deals stock, this will be clearly stated on your paperwork and on our website.
9 Do you offer the facility to test-drive the cars on offer?
Regretfully we do not offer this service at present. Our advice would be to contact a local dealer and arrange a test drive in the respective vehicle.
10 How will you look after my order?
Once you have completed the online Purchase Order (and in the case of New Cars and Dealer Deals paid the Administration Fee to us), you will receive an email showing the result of the transaction. We also receive a confirmation email containing all your details and how to contact you. This email is then sent to your supplying dealership. Your supplying dealership will then make contact with you, will be able to provide you with advice on all aspects of your car's order, and should be able to answer any further questions you might have. They will keep you updated via telephone, email or post.
11 What happens if I would like to add/remove an option on my car?
Where your car is in the production line and what your manufacturer allows will determine whether the supplier can alter your specifications, and whether there will be an impact on the price. Your Supplying Dealership will be able to answer any questions about this. Any changes you wish to make to your specified vehicle must be discussed and approved with your allocated dealership.
12 How will you contact me?
We can contact you via telephone or e-mail. Please tell us your preferred mode of communication.
13 How will I know if my estimated delivery/pick up date changes?
You can find out estimated delivery dates at any time by contacting our Customer Services team via support@buyyourcar.co.uk. If there is to be a change to this scheduled date then your allocated dealership will inform you accordingly.
14 Why can't you provide me with an exact date that I will have my car?
Your supplier can only provide an exact delivery date when your car has arrived at the supplier and has been through its Pre Delivery Inspection. Manufacturers and suppliers can only provide estimated dates when the orders are placed and they are subject to movement either forward or backward. Therefore, we are not able to promise more information than that until your car has arrived and been through its full manufacturer inspection.
15 Will my price increase after I order the car?
Our prices are fixed. However, the price may change if the manufacturer changes its prices to the supplier. These changes typically occur around model year change, and are usually only a small percentage increase. The price may also change if you request changes to your options after your order is accepted by the supplier.
16 Will my local supplier be able to service and maintain my car after delivery?
The local dealership of the brand of car you purchased or a manufacturer approved service centre will be able to carry out all the servicing and maintenance your car may need.
17 Under what circumstances can I cancel the order?
Our terms governing cancellation are described in the Terms and Conditions covering the Services Agreement and Suppliers Agreement provided here on the website and sent to you after you submit your online order. If you have any specific questions, please email us and we shall answer these for you. Your right to cancel your order with the supplying dealership after is a matter to be discussed with them directly.
18 What is the best way to get in contact with you or my supplying dealership?

Your available methods of transport when ordering a car through our New Cars and Dealer Deals section will be clearly stated and shown to you when enquiring about the vehicle. If you wish to change the chosen method of delivery, this may be possible but at possible additional cost. Any such fees can be checked and pre-arranged by contacting our Customer Services team. Once your car is purchased, your Suppling Dealership will also be able to confirm your delivery arrangements for your . Cars purchased independently through our Used Car section will be delivered as per your arrangement with the individual seller.
