Volkswagen Passat Car Review Summary

Volkswagen Passat
The Volkswagen Passat is a stylish and desirable car. Its attractive exterior design , excellent build quality, and wide choice of engines and equipment levels have led to the car’s success. Volkswagen had to change its thinking in order to stand out in a highly competitive segment. The car now boasts a daring, design, and is bigger than before. The car also provides a high level of standard kit as well.
Volkswagen used to produce more conservative cars, but the company has realized that in order to get the attention of buyers, their cars must be different and innovative.
The Passat is evidence of this bold and innovative design technique. The new Passat now has daring new looks that are designed to catch an eye or two. Thanks to a bold new grille and sharper styling, and a chassis that was designed for fun, the car has a lot more to offer buyers in the way of looks and excitement.
The Passat is able to face stiff competition from the likes of Honda's Accord, Lexus' IS range, Audi's A4, BMW's 3 Series and Mercedes' C-Class and still hold its own.
The Passat is now bigger than before with improved cabin space, and comes with a great line of diesel engines. Volkswagen has raised the bar for the competition.
Practicality

The Volkswagen Passat will be inexpensive to buy and run, especially if you opt for the diesel variant. Reasonable insurance, good fuel economy, and decent service charges will off set the fact that resale values will be disappointingly low.
The cabin is spacious and will provide sufficient space to all of the occupants, though the rear passengers will slightly less legroom. Even with a load of four adults, none but the tallest will have any complaints if, that is, they are sitting in the rear seats. The boot is large and is big enough for a days shopping or a few large items.
The Volkswagen Passat gauges are clear, concise, and of high quality. The buttons and knobs are of high quality too. The fascia is uncluttered and the controls are both functional and practical as they are clearly labeled. Adding to the functionality are steering wheel mounted audio controls. The gear shift is quick and responsive which is a welcomed change from the Volkswagens of the past.
The Passat’s passengers will be comfortable thanks to the combination of comfortable, yet slightly firm, seats and plenty of head and legroom. The car is a bit unresponsive and the car will tend to roll when cornering, but it will be smooth and quiet inside the cabin.
The front passengers will ease through the doors without much difficulty as the seats sit at the perfect height and the roofline is high. Access into the cabin is simple for rear seat occupants as well. The doors open wide to allow for unrestricted access. The lid to the boot is light and opens by remote release, but doesn’t seem to opens wide enough to offer unrestricted access.
Parking the Passat is easy, though being a saloon does mean it will be a bit difficult to judge distances and parking sensors may be necessary. When pulling into a parking space forwards, visibility is good and judging distances is slightly simpler.

Life Style

The new Volkswagen Passat is able to take corners at speed much better, and offers sharp responses, but still provides a refined ride at lower speeds. The diesel engines are the best choices, and the company’s optional direct shift gearbox (DSG) is also an excellent addition.
The Passat may not be the best family vehicle available but it will accommodate a small family fairly easily. Cabin space should be adequate, and the car’s boot will hold plenty of shopping and family related items.
This is probably not the first choice of new drivers. There are better choices available for a fraction of the cost.
This model is a lot flashier than the previous model, but still has the basics covered with plenty of refinement, strong kerb appeal and solid build quality. The car feels durable and boasts a high level of fit and finish.

Security and Safety

The Volkswagen Passat comes equipped with an engine immobiliser and remote central locking, and model dependent an alarm and interior sensors. The car's not likely to be high on a thieves list of priorities, but it has a good level of security none-the-less.
The Volkswagen Passat standard safety features include twin front, side and head airbags even the base model Passat. The car also includes the usual ABS, ESP and other electronic stability programmes. The rear seats boast a pair of Isofix child seat mounting points.
The Finishing Touches

The Volkswagen Passat standard audio unit includes a basic four-speaker, radio/CD unit. Upgrades include units boasting eight speakers and bigger amplifiers, all the way to a separate CD changer and sat-nav system. Other options are also available.
The Passat looks most flattering in light exterior shades. They tend to draw a lot of attention to the car's large, chrome grille. The car’s interior looks the most flattering in darker shades. They tend to give the cabin a more premium feel
