Car Review
Vauxhall Astra
The Vauxhall Astra Twin Top offers all of the refinement and performance of the regular hatchback model despite its convertible capabilities. Passenger and cargo space is only slightly diminished. The diesel option has the most to offer and is the best choice available
Vauxhall Astra Car Review Summary

Vauxhall Astra
Vauxhall’s Astra is a desirable coupe-cabriolet option in Twin Top. The Twin Top features a metal folding roof, and Vauxhall has enhanced the car’s cabin space to provide maximum passenger room. Vauxhall has been very careful not to sacrifice style for cabin space.
The Astra boasts a unique and stylish exterior design. The Twin Top has received several enhancements, including an extended rear end. The car’s design will be very appealing to buyers.
The Astra's styling and boot space is designed so that the Twin Top uses a roof that is split into three sections rather than two, which allows the folded roof to be stored more neatly conserving boot space.
Mechanically the Vauxhall Astra Twin Top shares the same engines and gearboxes as the hatchback model. This includes the option of a diesel engine for the first time in an Astra cabriolet helping to keep it competitive.
The Astra provides a good balance between handling and ride. The diesel option is probably the best providing more power and good fuel economy. The Astra should prove to be quite cost effective.
Practicality

The Astra should be a fairly inexpensive car to run which is surprising given the fact that it is a convertible that offers decent performance. The initial purchase price is very reasonable considering all the car offers, and servicing and fuel costs should be low as well.
The Vauxhall Astra cabin provides good passenger space. The boot is oddly shaped, but can hold a good deal. Taller passengers may find legroom inadequate in the rear. Average sized passengers should have no problem getting comfortable in the rear seats.
The Vauxhall Astra instruments and displays are clear and easy to read. A good quality look and feel. There isn’t anything too fancy or difficult to figure out in the cabin, and the features that are there are functional and logically located.
The Vauxhall Astra Sport model fitted with the diesel engine provides a better ride quality than the petrol options. The car’s seats are supportive and comfortable. The driving position could have been better but is adequate for comfort.
Accessibility to the Astra's cabin is really good, especially with the roof down. Access with the roof up is only slightly impeded, and the rear seats contain a tilt and slide mechanism that improves access to the rear seats. Access to the car’s boot is also good.
The Astra can be a little difficult to reverse park due to limited rear visibility. Parking sensors are available from the options list, and make life much easier. Of course, visibility is unhindered with the top down and make parking much easier.

Life Style

The Astra’s appeal comes from the car’s ability to offer plenty of torque with the six-speed gearbox, making it easy to accellerate and gather speed. The car offers good handling and steering. The Astra’s grip is also good and the car handles road imperfections well.
This may not be the best family vehicle. Larger passengers will find rear seating cramped. For a smaller family with young kids it might work. Other than that it would make a better second car.
The Astra would make an excellent first car for those who could afdford it. Limited rae visibility may be an issue for more novice drivers, and the car comes with a higher purchase price and insurance rates. Other than that the car’s drivability could suit a new driver.
The Astra boasts a good standard of quality throughout. The materials have a quality look and feel, and the car’s roof is well-designed and easy to operate. The car’s attracxtive exterior style will do much to boost the car’s image.

Security and Safety

The Vauxhall Astra comes standard with remote central locking with deadlocks. The car also comes with a security alarm and engine immobiliser. The folding metal roof also adds more security than a fabric top would.
The Astra’s body has been significantly strengthened, and roll bars added. The car also comes with ESP and ABS
The Finishing Touches

The Vauxhall Astra standard audio system includes a radio/CD player. The unit is easy to operate and includes steeringwheel mounted controls. The sound quality is good and can easily be heard with the top down.
The Twin Top Astra is comprised of much of the same materials as the regular Astra. A good quality of plastics have been used throughout. Brighter fabrics make the cabin look pleasant and light hearted.
