Vauxhall Cars
Named for the area where the company was founded, Vauxhall began as an ironworks company specializing in pumps and marine engines. In the early 1900s the company decided to focus on building automobiles, producing their first model in 1903. By 1907 they changed their name to Vauxhall Motor Ltd. Although the product had changed, their logo remained the same and continues to be used today.
Credited with building the very first true sports car, the Prince Henry C-type in 1911, they were bought out by American auto giant General Motors in 1925. This became the first GM plant in all of Europe and during World War II, Vauxhall, with GM backing, pulled off the amazing feat of designing and building tanks for the British war effort. The project was initially projected to take four years and the company finished the project in only a year. After the war they resumed auto production and today's Vauxhalls are an Opel-Vauxhall mix still bearing the griffin logo.

Vauxhall Motors is a United Kingdom car manufacturer. It is a subsidiary of General Motors. The company was first founded in 1958 by Alex Wilson.
The Vauxhall Company originally manufactured pumps and marine engines. It wasn’t until 1903 that the company built their first automobile. In 1925, Vauxhall was sold to General Motors.
During the Second World War, Vauxhall suspended car manufacturing and designed and manufactured Churchill tanks. The tanks were being manufactured on a large scale.
After the war ended, Vauxhall resumed car manufacturing. This time the company focused on cars that could be massed produced for the general public and in turn the company grew.
In the 1960s, Vauxhall developed a bad reputation for building models that were prone to rust. Despite the company’s proactive efforts to correct the problem the reputation lingered for the next twenty years.
Vauxhalls would closely resemble and follow the design of the Opel brand. In 1994, Vauxhall began giving its models a distinct grill marked with a ‘V’ for Vauxhall to help distinguish themselves from Opel.
Vauxhall has its share of up and downs and so has its parent company, General Motors. Despite its past woes, the company has managed to produce several reputable vehicles, including the Agila, Astra, Corsa, Meriva, Monara, Tigra, Signum, Vectra, and the Zafira.
The Vauxhall Agila is a mini MPV. The Agila is a five-door hatchback that comes with three engine choices including a diesel option. Production of the Agila began in 2000.
The Vauxhall Astra is a small family car that was designed to replace the Opel Kadet. The Astra has been produced in three generations and five different body styles and was first produced in 1991.
The Vauxhall Corsa is a supermini that was designed to replace the Opel Kadett City. The Corsa was first produced in 1983 and has been produced in four generations. The Corsa is available in six body styles; three and five-door hatchback, two and four-door sedan, five-door station wagon, and as a two-door pick up truck.
The Vauxhall Meriva is a mini MPV that is available with a range od petrol and turbodiesel engines from 1.3-litre to 1.8-litre. The five-door MPV was first produced in 2002.
The Vauxhall Monara is a muscle car that is available as a two-door coupe or as a four-door sedan. The Monara was first produced in 1968 and has been produced in three generations.
The Vauxhall Tigra is a sports car and was originally introduced as a small coupe in 1994, and was introduced as a roadster in 2004. The Tigra is marketed in several different countries under various names.
The Vauxhall Signum is a large family car sold almost exclusively in the United Kingdom. The Signum was designed to replace the Opel Omega. The car was first produced in 2003 and is available as a five-door hatchback.
The Vauxhall Vectra is a large family car. The Vectra was designed to replace the Vauxhall Cavalier. The Vectra was first produced in 1988 and was produced in three generations. The Vectra was replaced by the Opel Insignia.
The Vauxhall Zafira is a compact MPV. The Zafira was first produced in 1999 and has been produced in two generations. The Zafira has three rows of seats and can accommodate seven passengers. The car also sports the Flex 7 seating arrangement with removable seats.
