Suzuki Swift
Review Summary
The Suzuki Swift is an affordable alternative to big name brands. The little car has a lot of style and makes a lot of sense. It’s inexpensive to run, and feels mechanically sound. It can be a fun car to drive when pushed hard

Suzuki Swift Car Review
Suzuki Swift

Suzuki has had a reputation in the past for producing cheap vehicles. The 2005 Suzuki Swift may be the beginning of a change in the company’s manufacturing quality. The Swift is undoubtedly a better quality build over previous models, and can hold its own with brands such as the Toyota Yaris, Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa. The Swift delivers a fresh and attractive style. Designers have borrowed attractive elements from other models and have successfully coimbined the elements to create the fresh new Swift. The car’s shape is similar to the MINI and the front headlights look like they've been borrowed from the Nissan 350Z . Even with alll the car’s borrowed features the Swift has a personality all its own. The Suzuki Swift has a wide stance with pronounced wheel arches. The car has a masculine look even with entry-level models. The GTI version based on the World Rally Car is likely to become a fast hit. Inside the Suzuki Swift interior is very similar to that of the MINI. Front seat passengers have lots of room, but rear passengers will be more limited as far as space is concerned. Boot space is actually pretty good, and the cabin’s layout is uncluttered and comfortable. The colour is pleasant and the materials used are of a good quality. The Swift's use of quality materials is reflected in the car’s asking price. A Fiat Panda with the same diesel engine can be had for much less, while the Daihatsu Sirion also undercuts it.

Suzuki Swift
Suzuki Swift
The Swift is inexpensive both to buy and run. In addition to the cheap asking price, the car boasts inexpensive insurance rates and good fuel economy. Resale value will not be as high as some would hope.

The Suzuki Swift cabin supplies passengers with enough space but not much extra. Legroom is limited in the rear and front passengers may feel like they should have more. Headroom is throughout however. The boot is dismayingly small, capable of accommodating only a few small items.

The Suzuki Swift guages are all clear and concise. The dials and knobs all have a weighty, quality feel. Although some are much nicer than others. The only downside to the cabin is that the steering wheel doesn’t adjust for rake.

The Swift boasts one of the most comfortable rides of its class. The comfortable, supportive seats make even the longest of jouneys at least bearable. The car does a remarkable job of eliminating road and wind noise from the cabin.

Accessing the cabin in very simple for front seat pasengers. Rear occupants will have a much harder time entering the vehicle. The rear door is oddly shaped with very little room near the bottom. Accessing the boot is not as difficult. It opens wide to allow for unrestricted access.

Parking the Swift is easy. The curved bonnet does make judging distances a bit difficult, but light, accurate steering makes up for this. Reverse parking is made easier by great rear visibility.

 Life Style 3.5/5

Suzuki Swift
The Swift's gives somewhat of a false impression when it comes to the car’s performance. It functions perfectly well, but doesn’t deliver an exciting ride by any means. The 1.5-litre petrol engine feels adequate but not great. The diesel option pulls away more sharply but is less settled.

The Swift is too small in the back to be the primary family vehicle, but the Swift could be used as a second vehicle or a commuter car. serve as a handy second car in support of a larger people carrier or estate perhaps.

A Swift would make a really good first car. It has some street credinility thanks to its awesome exterior design and its modest performance will be just right for new drivers. The car comes with a high asking price and that may pose a problem for some buyers.

The old Suzuki Swift was often viewed as a bargain basement venture. It was often bought by older, more practical buyers. The new Swift targets younger buyers. With its clever styling and solid road manners it has a lot to offer, but the Suzuki badge still seems to be associated with cheap prices and bargain vehicles. The Swift has not been bargain priced and it will be interesting to see what effect this has on buyers.

 Security and Safety 2.5/5
The Swift comes equipped with an engine immobiliser, deadlocks and a visible VIN, but the car does not come equipped with an alarm system as standard. A security alam may be a wise investment considering the car’s desirability.

The Suzuki Swift safety features include driver and passenger airbags, side curtain airbags and ABS with EBD. The Swift's crash test scores are comparable with its rivals.

 The Finishing Touches 3/5
All Suzuki Swift models come with a radio/cd with a six-speaker stereo system. It has a great sound quality and it’s only fault would be the chaep feeling adio control knob, which is made of bristle plastic.

The Suzuki Swift design is swift enough to coincide with any paint colour that the buyer wanted to put on it, however red was one of the favorites of the test driven cars. Sober silver is decient but may take away some of the cars character. There are also several cost options available to the buyer.
