The current Altea has a choice of engines ranging from a 1.2 litre to a 2.0 litre including a number of diesel engines, with all engines offering good fuel economy.

The Altea offers a good driving experience and is one of the best cars to drive in its class. The car delivers a sportier ride with responsive steering and little body-roll. The car also boasts an exceptionally fast gear changing system.

The Seat Altea offers an impressive range of safety. That is likely to be a big selling point for family buyers. Family buyers will also like the versatility that the Altea offers. Many buyers will be attracted to the car as an all-round impressive package. Visibility could be better but that is a small annoyance with an otherwise great vehicle.

Background

The SEAT Altea is a small MPV which was introduced in 2004 and was said to be the first example of SEAT’s corporate look. It is essentially the same as the SEAT Toledo apart from the boot, which is larger.

There is also a SEAT Altea XL variant available which is a longer variant of the original Altea boasting a larger luggage capacity. There is also a 4WD version available called the Altea Freetrack, whilst it isn’t advertised as a 4X4, it is a competitor amongst the small 4X4 market. It has raised suspension, large plastic bumpers and certain other features which all increase the Freetrack’s dimensions compared to the original Altea.

For the original Altea there are 4 trim levels available in the UK, the Reference, Reference Sport, Stylance and the FR.

Summary

The SEAT Altea is not likely to breakdown or be otherwise disappointing. The car is well-equipped, provides a smooth and comfortable ride and in diesel form is economical to run. The SEAT network is widespread and finding a good dealer shouldn’t be too difficult. Buyers will appreciate all the SEAT has to offer.
