Car Review

Renault Kangoo

The Renault Kangoo may have been designed with van practicality in mind, but it doesn’t drive anything like a van. The Renault Kangoo cabin plastics are disappointing, but It may be descended from a van but Renault's Kangoo is anything but its sliding rear doors, huge tailgate and large, practical boot, combined with a lofty driving position combine to deliver a very practical and pleasant all-round vehicle.

Renault Kangoo Car Review Summary

Renault Kangoo

The Renault’s Kangoo is van-like in appearance with somewhat shrunken dimensions. Unlike their more upmarket counterparts, these cars allow buyers to purchase more affordable people carriers with van-like functionality. The Kangoo drives like a family car but offers all of the practicality of a small van. The Kangoo is refined and offers an enjoyable driving experience.

Renault's Kangoo delivers some fine van-like qualities. Buyers were reluctant to embrace the cars in this sector initially but have warmed up to them considerably in recent years. The Kangoo's style is fresh and modern. The firm gave the Kangoo an attractive exterior style side, among other things, is its styling. Renault's decision to make the Kangoo more than just a box on wheels was a smart move, and the attractive exterior has prompted buyers to investigate its abilities even further.

The Kangoo gives buyers a practical alternative to a family hatch and a traditional people carrier. The car offers the flexibility of a traditional people carrier coupled with a durable nature designed to withstand plenty of abuse.

Interior design changes make the car appealing to buyers with active lifestyles. The Kangoo does not offer all of the cushy trimmings associated with regular MPVs. Its priced to target buyers who are seeking a spacious and versatile holdall who would otherwise be unable to afford an estate car or a large people carrier.

Renault’s 1.5-litre diesel motor is the best choice available. It provides good economy and power, and provides a refined and decent ride. The budget Kangoo has much to offer buyers at an economical price.

The Kangoo will be an economical car to buy. Along with its low asking price, the Kangoo will provide buyers with low insurance rates and good fuel economy. A downfall of the Kangoo is that it doesn’t come highly equipped so the price of the options that you choose could quickly add up.

The Renault Kangoo cabin is spacious enough. Front seat passengers will be comfortable as head and legroom are sufficient. Move to the rear, and it’s a different story. Taller rear passengers will feel a bit compromised when it comes to legroom. The boot is large and practical.

The Renault Kangoo gauges aren’t flashy or overly interesting, but they are easily read and logically located. The fascia is uncluttered, and the controls are all simple to use. Some models of the Kangoo come with remote audio controls. These controls make operation of the stereo much easier.

The Kangoo is comfortable, with wide seats and a roomy cabin. You will be surprised at the level of comfort provided by the suspension, delivering a smooth ride to all occupants.

The Kangoo, besides being slightly tall, is very accessible. The larger front-door and rear hatch apertures make entering the cabin and the boot very simple. The rear doors slide open, making it easy to get into and out of the cabin easily.

Parking the Kangoo is easy with the car’s light steering and great visibility. Even smaller parking spaces shouldn’t be problematic. The car’s compact dimensions and smooth acceleration help dramatically.

The Kangoo provides a very decent driving experience. The Kangoo is tall but controls roll very well. For all-round performance, the 1.5 dCi diesel engine is the best choice. The petrol options are fine, but the diesel is much better and more practical.

For a family on a budget the Renault Kangoo is an excellent choice. Renault’s decision to place durability first in cabin design was a very family-friendly choice. The car's large boot makes storing both shopping and pushchairs easy. The cabin’s many cubbies make staying organized and tidy a breeze.

The Kangoo is not a likely choice of first time buyers but would be able to act in that capacity quite well. It may be too big for most novive drivers and will be a little more costly to insure. Other than that, the Kangoo is super easy to drive and handles well.

The Kangoo hides its commercial roots well and offers good levels of versatility. The Kangoo also offers a lot in the way of exterior design. It has a very attractive style. The company has been plagued in the past with quality issues. Buyers will have a hard time forgetting the quality and electronic related problems of the past.

Security and Safety

Rating: 3/5

Although the Renault Kangoo doesn’t come with the best or most anti-theft measures and devices it’s not the most targeted car either. It comes standard with remote central locking and an engine immobilizer.

The Kangoo comes with front seat airbags, and an option of side airbags for the front. However, unlike other more expensive MPV’s rear airbags are not even an option

The Finishing Touches

Rating: 3/5

The Kangoo comes with a limited choice of either a cassette player or a single CD player. Depending on which model is purchased will determine whether you get the base model Authentic or the Expression/Trekka. Both perform well, but the cassette is outdated.

Light, happy colours look best on the exterior of the Kangoo and may slightly increase the resale value. While the Kangoo is at the bargain and budget end of MPV market, its interior is not as posh as more expensive cars. The Renault Kangoo has so much glass that it provides an airy feeling of comfort.
