French firm Peugeot made its name with a series of successful small cars, and its revised 607 saloon aims to repeat that success in the executive car market. Rather than competing directly with premium brands, the 607 aims to satisfy buyers looking for a lot of car for their money.
The 607 is a comparatively rare sight in the UK. This is largely due to the numbers of private buyers looking for a car of this size and price. Peugeot is one of the few remaining firms that offer a car in this segment. It offers big car space, comfort and luxury at a very reasonable price.
New enhancements have been made to the Peugeot 607 exterior design while raising the level of standard equipment. The car’s overall length has been increased by 30mm, and the bumper and grille have been enhanced as well. The car comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels as standard.
Inside, enhancements include new instruments and a large colour screen in the centre of the dashboard designed to operate the audio, navigation and telephone systems. The car also boasts cruise control with a speed limiter that allows the driver to set a speed limit. The car’s parking sensor system includes front detectors.
Practicality
The 607 has a high purchase price, but running costs should be fairly low. The car returns decent fuel economy and service intervals can be up to 20,000 miles apart. Insurance rates will be on the high end.
The 607 is loaded with cabin space. All four passengers both front and rear will enjoy an abundance of head and legroom. Even adult passengers won’t feel cramped riding in the rear seats. The boot is also a good size and will come in very useful.

Front seat passengers will enjoy high levels of comfort with electrically adjustable seats that come standard on the SE model. The seats provide good levels of comfort, and rear passengers also enjoy comfortable seating and high levels of all-round comfort.
Access to the Peugeot 607 front and rear seats is very good. The doors open widely and passengers can easily gain access to the car’s cabin. Boot access is also very good with a low load lip.
Parking the large 607 is fairly simple thanks to the car’s parking sensors. The car’s steering is also light and comes in very handy while parking the 607.

The 607 delivers a comfortable ride, on both smooth roads and motorways. The car doesn’t do nearly as well on urban or broken roads. The 607 is also not designed for speed. The 2.2-litre diesel may have a strong torque output, but it is not a fast car. The car is designed for comfort and a good driving experience on longer journeys.
This is an excellent family car. The cabin provides more than adequate cabin space, and the vehicle has been designed with long trips and comfort in mind. The car also offers some unique entertainment features.
This is an easy car to drive and park, but it is much too large for most new drivers. There are many less expensive more practical cars for novice drivers.

The Peugeot 607 comes standard with an alarm and engine immobiliser. The car also comes with automatic door locks which engage once the vehicle reaches 6mph.

The Finishing Touches
The Peugeot 607 standard audio system includes a JBL hi-fi system with a six CD autochanger for the SE model. The sound quality is good. The main functions are duplicated on the car’s steering wheel for the driver’s convenience.
The Peugeot 607 interior is mostly black when fitted with the optional leather trim, splashes of chrome help to lighten the mood in the cabin. The leather is of good quality, and most surfaces within the cabin have a quality feel.
