Car Review
Peugeot 206
The 206 has so much to offer buyers. Besides the fact that it’s good money for value the car is a lot of fun to drive as well. It provides a comfortable ride and the car’s excellent steering make it easy to navigate through tight or crowded places.
The Peugeot 206 limited cabin space will count against it however, and rivals offer similar deals with more cabin space.
Peugeot 206 Car Review Summary
Peugeot 206
The Peugeot 206 is very popular in the supermini segment. Every since its introduction to the UK it has been a top seller. The five-door version is rare but offers increased practicality along with the car’s other strengths.
The 206 is an attractive hatchback with a unique shape. Body coloured bumpers are also featured on all but the base model. The addition of 15-inch alloy wheels as standard was a generous act.
The 206’s interior design seems to be behind the times. Most superminis are larger to improve passenger comfort and practicality. The cabin is very small with limited space and barely adequate head and legroom. The 206 may have a tough time competing with the cabin space of rival brands.
The Peugeot 206 1.4-litre 16v petrol engine strikes a good balance between performance and economy. The small petrol unit is sufficiently smooth, and quiet. Performance is very good.
The 206 provides a comfortable ride and good handling. The car’s excellent steering and suspension make the 206 fun to drive around town and easy to navigate through busy city streets.
Practicality
The Peugeot 206 boasts low running costs and good fuel economy. Combine this with the low purchase price and reasonable insurance rates and the car is very economical.
Cabin space is good in the 206, and head and legroom is really good for front seat passengers. Rear passengers have less legroom and may become uncomfortable on longer journeys.
The Peugeot 206 controls and dials are easy to use and logically placed. The car’s red instrument markings add an extra sporty feel to the cabin. The trip computer is located in the center of the dashboard and is easy to use and find.
Front seat passengers enjoy plenty of space and will find the ride quite comfortable. The seats are supportive and most passengers should be well catered for. Rear passengers will not have the same room or comfort level as front passengers. Space is much more limited and passngers will only be comfortable on shorter trips.
The Peugeot 206 provides good access. The five door model makes it much easier to gain access to the rear seats. Once in, it may be much more difficult to egress from the cramped rear seats. Access to the cabin’s front seats is unhindered. The boot is easily accessible and enjoy’s a reasonably low loading lip.
Parking should not be a problem the 206 provides good visibility all-round with the exception of slightly limited rear visibility. The car’s power steering and tight turning circle make parking the 206 a breeze.

Life Style
The 206 has great driver appeal. It’s a fun car, and in 1.4-litre Sport form the car is not only fun but practical too. The petrol unit is both keen and refined, and the car’s suspension system does an excellent job coping with road imperfections, and when the car is driven hard the suspension responds well, delivering excellent grip and sharp responses.
The Peugeot 206 is not really practical as a family car. Due to its small size. It could be used as a fun second car or a fun commuter car though. Small children could fit into the cramped backseats, but the Isofix mountings are in the front seats.
This is an excellent choice of first cars. The low running costs should be very appealing to novice drivers, and the car’s small size make it very easy to handle, navigate and park. This car is actually among one of the best options available for new drivers.
Despite the age of the 206, its style still remains attractive and the car in general seems to age well. The quality of materials used for the most part are of good quality. The materials feel durable and sturdy. There are only a few quality issues in the cabin that are truly disappointing.

Peugeot 206 sport models are fitted with red fabric trim, with a choice between seven exterior colours and three interior colours. The majority of the dashboard is black, and the additional red trim it gives the cabin a classy and sporty feel. Some of the cabin’s plastics could have been better quality, but all-in-all a comfortable and impressive cabin.
