Car Review

Nissan Almera

The Almera is a well-equipped hatchback that provides enough seating for five passengers with plenty of cabin space, a smooth and comfortable ride with excellent steering.

The Nissan Almera biggest annoyance is the fact that there’s too much roll.

Nissan Almera Car Review Summary

Nissan Almera

The Almera seats five passengers comfortably. The car’s cabin is spacious and practical. The fascia is very simple and easy to figure out. The car is well equipped and the steering is good, but there tends to be a lot of body roll when cornering.

The Nissan Almera provides a comfortable driving position with adjustability and comfortable seats. The best choice of engines is the diesel option. The diesel is definitely the most refined of the three being offered.

The Nissan Almera 2.2 turbodiesel provides 135bhp. The Almera boasts car-like handling and delivers a decent ride. The car handles most surfaces well and the biggest nuisance is that there is too much body roll.

The Almera will struggle to compete as a five seater when some competitors offer seating for six or even seven. The seats are also difficult to fold and remove.

The Nissan Almera diesel engines will be more expensive initially but will hold value better and deliver much better fuel economy. The Almera should prove to be reliable based on the company’s long running reputation for delivering dependable and reliable vehicles.

Practicality

Rating: 4/5

The Almera is less expensive to purchase than many rivals. Fuel economy is good with the diesel engines and running costs and insurance are good. The car’s reliability and inexpensive nature should prove to be very cost effective.

The Almera provides adequate seating for five with room to spare. The car’s cabin is spacious and the hatch is a practical size as well. The Almera could comfortably seat a family and provide adequate room for shopping and other items.

The Nissan Almera controls are simple yet practical. The instrumentation panel has been well thought out and provides a lot of convenience. The switchgear is of a decent quality and feel.

The Almera provides good levels of comfort. The ride is smooth and the car’s seats are supportive and comfortable. The car does tend to roll too much when cornering, but engine and road noises are successfully suppressed.

Accessing the Almera’s cabin is easy. The doors are large and open widely providing a large aperture. Egress is also not a problem for most passengers, and the hatch also opens easily providing a large aperture for loading and unloading.

The Almera is fairly simple to park. The car is smaller in size and provides a good drive position with good visibility. The car’s side mirrors help out a lot when parking the Almera.

Life Style

Rating: 3/5

The Nissan Almera is not a performance vehicle. It delivers a smooth ride with plenty of power, but it is not a fast car. The Almera focuses more on practicality than performance.

This is an ideal family car. There is plenty of passenger space for five passengers and enough cargo space to carry groceries and other family related items. The car is affordable and economical in diesel form.

The Almera is not the best first car. It is easy enough to drive, but it is too large and will probably not have many of the qualities that most first time buyers look for in a first car.

Nissan has an excellent reputation for building reliable and dependable cars. Most Nissan’s are inexpensive and usually of decent quality. The Nissan badge is not held in as high regard as some of the more up-market brands.

Security and Safety

Rating: 4/5

The Nissan Almera basic security features include an engine immobilizer, deadlocks and an anti-hijacking function. The car comes with a good deal of security and should be well protected.

The Nissan Almera standard safety features include twin front airbags and ABS. Side airbags are also included as standard.

The Finishing Touches

Rating: 4/5

The Nissan Almera standard audio unit includes a CD auto changer with an AM/FM radio. It is a bit disappointing that a CD player is not included as standard fit.

The Nissan Almera exterior design looks the most flattering in silver, although the Almera looks good in most colours. The car also provides power steering and a sunroof.
