Mini One
Review Summary
The entry-level 1.6 16v engine provides excellent fuel economy even when worked hard. The Mini One must be pushed hard due to the excess weight from reinforcing the car’s body.

The Mini One does not come standard with air conditioning or a CD player so buyers will definitely need to select a few cost-options. The One may not be fast or powerful but it does provide an economical and fun ride.

Mini One Car Review
Mini-One

Mini’s One comes in convertible or hatchback form. The Mini Hatchback drives better than the One convertible, but the One in convertible form is a lot of fun anyway.

The Mini One convertible’s performance is hindered slightly due to the strengthening of the car’s body structure. Both the One hatch and the One convertible handle well and provide a good ride and driving experience.

The Mini One boasts a good build quality and enjoys a large following. The one is a four-seater in the most modest sense of the word. Rear seats are not practical for much more than an additional storage area or seating for small children.

The Mini comes with an electric folding roof as standard and can be collapsed in as little as 15 seconds with the push of a button. Rear seats fold down to increase cargo space.

Mini One
The Mini One is competitively priced alongside rival brands. The One will likely offer high resale values as well due to the car’s popularity and limited supply.

The Mini One provides excellent cabin space for front seat passengers but space is much more limited for rear passengers especially with the top down. The Mini’s boot is small and becomes even smaller when the top is stored, but the folding rear seats help to improve storage space.

The Mini One is well equipped. The One’s controls and dials are straightforward and easy to use. The instrumentation is attractively laid out. The One’s top is easy to use along with rear parking sensors that help to compensate for poor rearward visibility.

Front seat passengers should find cabin room to be more than sufficient while rear seat passengers will enjoy far less room. Front seat passengers will find the Mini’s cabin quite comfortable with plenty of space. The One provides the same level of specification in the convertible as in the hatch version. The One was not designed for comfort but buyers should find the Mini reasonably comfortable and a lot of fun.

Parking the Mini One can be tricky at times due to limited rear visibility and a low drive position. Rear parking sensors help out a lot, and the One’s small size makes it easier to park.

Mini One
The Mini One provides a firm ride but handles well. The One’s light steering makes it easy to maneuver through traffic and crowded parking lots. The Mini does shake a little in the convertible when the top is down. Otherwise the Mini provides a satisfactory ride and is a fun car to drive.

The Mini One is not a good family car. Seating is limited and the boot is much too small to accommodate family type items. The One would make a fun second car for a family though; even if it is not likely to accommodate the entire family at the same time.

The One would be a fun first car. It is likely to be too expensive for most first time buyers though and may pose problems for novice drivers when parking. The Mini is easy enough to drive, but is not a likely first car.

The Mini One delivers an excellent quality of materials similar to the quality found in BMW’s. There have been some reliability issues reported with the One, but none of the issues are related to the convertible top mechanism.

 Security and Safety 4/5
The One’s standard security features include central locking, a security alarm and an engine immobilizer. Given the appeal of the Mini buyers may want to consider a visual deterrent for additional protection.

The Mini One’s standard safety features include body-stiffening, roll-over hoops, and driver, passenger, and side airbags. The Mini is well equipped with safety features including seatbelt tensioners, traction control, and ABS.

 The Finishing Touches 4/5
The Mini One comes with several cost options for selecting an audio system including a multi-CD changer, a hands-free phone and a satellite navigation system.

The Mini One also comes standard with steering-wheel adjustment, seat adjustment; split-fold rear seats, electric windows and mirrors, and a decent selection of cost options are available including leather seats.
