Mercedes-Benz E Class Overview
Cabin space in the E-Class is favourable, and four adults should be able to ride with plenty of room. Head and legroom is good in the front and headroom is good in the back with legroom largely dependent on the size of the front seat passengers. The car’s boot is large and can accommodate a decent load.
The Mercedes E-Class comes with a good level of standard equipment, and features a logical, easy-to-use display that is duplicated on the steering wheel for driver convenience. The Mercedes E-Class standard audio unit delivers an excellent sound quality and the systems basic features are also duplicated on the steering wheel. A wide range of optional extras are available, but will not come cheap.

Background
The first Mercedes to be labelled the E-Class was the W124 in 1994. This model was available as a 4-door saloon, a 5-door estate, a 2-door coupe or a 2-door convertible.
The second generation of the E-Class was introduced in 1996, available with a 4-speed automatic transmission, and later 5-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmissions. A wide range of engines were available, with the 6 litre and 6.2 litre V8 engines achieving acceleration from 0 – 60mph in less than 5 seconds.
The third generation of the vehicle was produced from 2002 until 2009. It was available with a 7-speed automatic transmission. In 2007 the model received a facelift and sported a restyled exterior as well as many new technological innovations.
The current version of the Mercedes E-Class has been in production since 2009. The suspension and the steering of the latest E-Class model have been enhanced to provide a more balanced and rewarding driving experience. The engines have been upgraded and many of the cars are now complete with a 7-speed transmission. The model is once again available as a 2-door coupe or convertible.
