Mazda Car Reviews
Mazda Cars
Mazda Motors began as Toyo Cork Kogyo Co. back in 1920 as a Japanese machine tool manufacturer. In 1931 they introduced the Mazda-Go, moving them from tools to vehicles but it wasn't until 1960 that they produced a four- wheeled car. By the 1970s they were recognised internationally as a performance leader due to the Wankel rotary engine, which seemed to outperform the piston based engines of their competitors. Even with this success, they suffered a financial crisis, which led to Ford taking a large financial stake in the company. Even though all their autos have always carried name Mazda, an ancient Persian word meaning wisdom, they didn't officially change their name to Mazda until 1984. With success in the 1980s under Ford's guidance, the brand again declined by the 90s and into the new millennium. It wasn't until 2002 that they started to change perceptions of the company with the release of new models. By 2005 Mazda reported record profits. To keep their momentum going they have now released crossover SUVs and a hybrid as well as withdrawing slower selling models.
