Jaguar Cars

Jaguar began as the Swallow Sidecar Company in Blackpool, England back in 1922. Started by Bill Lyons and William Walmsley, both motorcycle enthusiasts, they went on to fashion motor coaches and moved to Coventry. By 1931 they were able to enter the market with their own vehicles designed by Lyons. These cars featured an innovative chassis complimented with leather and wood interiors that went on to become Lyons' trademark. Due to the model names, the company changed its name to SS Cars Ltd in 1933. After World War II SS had negative connotations so the name changed again to Jaguar Cars.

Jaguar's big breakthrough came in 1948 with the XK120 sports car. The vehicle featured twin overhead cam, 3.5-litre, 6 cylinder engine. It was originally intended for a production run of 200, but the car’s popularity kept the model going until 1954. Since that time, Jaguar has grown in notoriety and continued to specialize in performance and style. Today's Jaguar offers a large variety of options while sleek and sophisticated exteriors have come to be expected on all models.
