Fiat Sedici Car Review Summary

Fiat Sedici

The Fiat Sedici is a unique compact car with a part-time four-wheel drive system. The system is not only unique it’s functional. Fiat once was thought of as somewhat of a second class citizen because of the budget, lower class cars that it was famous for producing. Much improved recent cars like the Panda, the Grande Punto, and the Sedici are beginning to turn the company’s image around.

The Sedici doesn’t just look the part of an off-roader, it also plays the part very well. The power includes a switchable all-wheel drive system. The car gives you the option of front-wheel drive, part-time four-wheel drive, or full-time four-wheel drive all controlled by the flip of a switch located in the cabin.

Suzuki joined with Fiat to develop the car that is being called the SX4. The four-wheel drive system of the Sedici works well. Even if the car is used mostly for city driving it is reassuring to know that the 4X4 capabilities are there if adverse weather conditions deem it necessary to select the 4X4 mode.

The Fiat Sedici would be an ideal car for urban moms. It handles and drives well both on and off the road. It provides adequate cabin space and the driver sits up high making it easy to drive.

Based on proven mechanicals the Fiat Sedici provides the buyer with excellent value for the money. Running costs on the Sedici are low and so is insurance. The Sedici gets good gas mileage and resale value is not known.

The Sedici has adequate passenger space for four average sized passengers. The boot is a dcent size and the rear seats fold down to accommodate larger sized cargo. Families will appreciate the durable fabric used to cover the car’s seats.

The Fiat Sedici cabin's main dials and controls are large and simple to use. The entire cabin design is simple and logical with well placed controls. One exception would be the rocker switch for the 4X4 feature. It has been placed near the handbrake and could have been better placed.

The Sedici seats are firm yet supportive and plenty large enough to accommodate most passengers comfortably. Engine and road noise levels are good, but the faster or harder the engine works then the higher the noise level. Head and leg room are good all around.

The Sedici sports a high drive position but is not difficult to access. There is a slight step up, but it shouldn’t pose a problem. Front and rear doors open wide enough to facilitate easy access. The hatch also provides easy access with a fairly lightweight tailgate.

The Fiat Sedici is an easy car to park. Both forward and rear visibility is good, and steering is light at low speeds. Parking sensors shouldn’t be necessary.

The Sedici could be used as a family car. It has enough cabin space to accommodate a small family and the material used to cover the seats is durable. It is economical and offers decent boot space.

The Fiat Sedici would make a really great first car. It isn’t too powerful for novice drivers, and the high driving position provides good all around visibility. The 4X4 feature could prove to be really practical and fuel economy should be really good especially with the diesel version.

Fiat seems to be giving up the cheap cars of the past for more stylish and reliable cars with better build quality. The car’s interior could have been improved with better quality materials.

The Fiat Sedici comes remote central locking and an engine immobilizer. The stereo unit is built to uniquely fit the Sedici and not a hot target for thieves. A visual security aid could be added for additional security.
