The Dodge Ram is not a very common sight on UK roads, but the pick-up does offer good value for money. The Ram will not go unnoticed by any means and boasts impressive performance and a fantastic load carrying capability. Buyers will not be disappointed in what the Ram has on offer.

The Dodge Ram is the largest pick-up available in the UK, a true piece of American culture. The Ram is huge and can carry six passengers as well as a large load of cargo in its flat bed.
Dodge is a famous American brand, but it is much less well-known in the UK. Dodge is offering two versions in the UK, the 1500 Laramie and the high performance SRT-10. The pick-ups will be sold in limited numbers with a three year warranty.
The Ram is close to six metres in length and almost two metres tall. The Ram is enormous and its presence can’t be ignored. The pick-up boasts five regular seats and one occasional seat, and the Ram’s folding rear bench offers some versatility and a lockable storage area.
The Dodge Ram sports a 5.7-litre HEMI V8, which is used in a number of Chrysler group products. The engine delivers rapid performance more than most other pick-ups and closer resembling the speed of a hot hatch. Despite the vehicle’s large size, it is easy to drive and delivers remarkably well.
While in many respects the Ram is a practical vehicle, in the UK it is far more of a handful than in its native USA. Many roads and parking bays were not designed for something as long and wide as the Ram, and occasionally it can become difficult to negotiate urban routes.
Practicality
For the amount of vehicle on offer the Dodge Ram provides a decent purchase price, and reasonable running costs. The down side is fuel expenses will be high and insurance will be high as well.
The Ram provides excellent cabin space. Front seat passengers will enjoy an abundance of head and legroom. Rear seat passengers will enjoy less room but space is still sufficient for six passengers. The rear load area is nearly two metres in length and 1.5 metres wide, and can meet almost any cargo needs.
The dials and switchgear are clear and easy to use. They are all logically located and only the ventilation controls will be a stretch to reach due to the size of the dashboard. Other than that, everything is simple and straightforward.
The Ram’s seats are supportive and very comfortable. The space that the Ram provides ensures comfort even on longer trips. The Ram delivers a smooth quiet ride and is more comfortable than one might expect a vehicle of its size to be.
Accessing the Dodge Ram requires a step up and may pose a problem for some passengers. Access for most will be quite simple aside from the step up. The doors open wide and provide a large aperture. The Ram’s tailgate fold down for easy access to the bed of the pick-up.
The Ram is not a difficult vehicle to park. The hard part is finding a space large enough to park the Ram in. The pick-up provides excelleny visibilty and an automatic transmission. Parking sensors are not included which is surprising on a vehicle of this size.

The high drive position is an excellent part of the driving experience in the Dodge Ram. The Ram’s controls are light and easy to use, while the engine performs quite well. The Ram delivers excellent acceleration and road imperfections are hardly noticeable.
The Ram would make a good family vehicle. It offers plenty of cabin space and comfort and could accommodate even a larger family. Items normally stowed in a boot could easily fit into the pick-up bed area, but may need to be covered during inclimate weather or to keep prying eyes away. A cover can be purchased separately.
The Dodge Ram is not a first car. The vehicle’s large size and expensive nature would make it unsuitable. The left hand drive configuration may also pose problems for less experienced drivers.
The quality of the Ram is good, and the vehicle’s versatility makes it appealing to a diverse group of buyers. The Ram can function as a workhorse or as a family vehicle, while the whole time maintaining good levels of comfort. The Ram is all about image and has no trouble drawing attention to itself.

The Dodge Ram standard security features include remote central locking and a Thatcham category 1 approved alarm and engine immobiliser.
The Ram comes equipped with ABS, four airbags and selectable four-wheel drive. The Ram’s high driving position and excellent visibility also contribute to its overall safety.
The Finishing Touches
A standard radio/CD system with four speakers is more than adequate for the Dodge Ram.The system’s basic functions are duplicated on the car’s steering wheel as well, adding an extra touch of convenience. The systems sound quality is very good as well.
The Ram features leather trim on the seats and steering wheel. The rest of the cabin is comprised mostly of plastics, but the cabin still has a light airy feel.
