Smart Cars History & Background
Smart Cars

Smart is a German automobile manufacturer that specializes in superminis and microcars. Smart is a part of the Daimler Chrysler Corporation. Smart cars are designed small for easy parking. Swatch, the Swiss watch manufacturer played an active role in designing the initial smart cars. The original smart car was much more costly to produce than what had initially been predicted, and Swatch bailed out of the venture due to the financial losses that the company would sustain. Smart cars have received a mixed reaction in past years but have gained popularity in more recent years as the car’s practicality and convenient size are better appreciated now. Some popular smart models include the Smart ForTwo, and the Smart Roadster.

The Smart Fortwo is a city coupe; it was the original smart car that was produced in 1988. The Smart Fortwo is a microcar that was designed for easy driving and easy parking. The car comes with a choice of turbocharged three-cylinder engines.

The Smart Roadster is a two-door microcar. The Smart Roadster is slightly more powerful than the Smart Fortwo, and has been well-received by the public. The Smart Roadster’s wheelbase is slightly longer than that of the Smart Fortwo.

The 2007 smart will also be a battery electric powered two-seater. This model will come with a rear mounted engine and will provide more power than previous smart models.
