Rolls-royce Cars History & Background
Rolls-Royce Cars

Rolls-Royce Limited was a British car manufacturing company. The company was originally founded by Henry Royce and C.S. Rolls in 1906.

The ‘Silver Ghost’ model was first introduced in 1906, and came with a six-cylinder engine. The Silver Ghost was responsible for the company’s initial success. The company went on to produce other successful models and in 1931, the company acquired the Bentley brand.

In 1951, the company began to produce diesel engines and after the development of the RB211 turbofan engine, the company began to struggle. As a result, the company was nationalized by the Heath government in 1971.

In 1973, the auto manufacturing portion of the company separated and became Roll-Royce Motors. Rolls-Royce still produces popular models, including the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom is a full-size luxury saloon that was designed under the ownership of BMW. The Phantom was designed to replace the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph. The Four-door saloon comes with a 6.75-litre V12 engine. Production of the Phantom began in 2003.
